Grocery List: December 8, 2013

photoI licked Christmas card envelopes yesterday, so this grocery list is irrelevant. Everything tastes like envelope glue. Last night’s pizza and wings, the ice cream I had after The Kid went to bed and The In-Laws left, this morning’s iced coffee…all of it had the wonderful bouquet of liquid-activated adhesive. Yes, I could have used a wet sponge or paper towel, but that fact didn’t occur to me until I was well into the project.

We used Snapfish for our cards this year. Usually we use Picaboo, but the coupon was better at the other site. Snapfish is owned by hp, the tech company behind such innovative ideas as charging as much for an ink cartridge as a new printer, and shipping that new printer with just enough ink to print the first page. I’m certain that Meg Whitman is behind all of this — the ink cartridge pricing and capacity, their overpriced paper, the glue — as retribution for her losing the 2010 California gubernatorial race.

Or it could just be that Snapfish uses the cheapest possible envelope to maintain their profit margin. I think my conspiracy theory makes more sense.

Dinner this week will follow a common theme: lemon. Each will use the citrus fruit in different manners, either as a primary flavor, accent flavor, or as an acid to offset other flavors. We like citrus around here, particularly lime and lemon, and its nice to get it in during the winter months.

And on that note, it’s 10:15 a.m. I can’t think of a better time for my weekly shopping trip to Wegmans.
